Cloud Migration

Cloud Migration - On-Prem to Azure.

Retire the server room. We move your servers, identity, files, and databases from on-premises to Microsoft Azure – with minimal downtime, no data loss, and a clean exit from ageing hardware.

Why Move to Azure?

Your server room is a liability you can retire.

On-premises servers age, fail, and demand constant maintenance, power, and replacement budgets. Worse, they're a single point of failure - and a security and backup risk that grows every year.

Moving to Azure turns that capital expense and risk into a predictable, scalable service - accessible from anywhere, backed by Microsoft's global infrastructure, and managed by us so you never think about hardware again.

Migration without the horror stories

Migrations earn their scary reputation when they're rushed or unplanned. We do the opposite: assess everything first, migrate in careful waves, and validate at every step - so cutover is a non-event, not a disaster.

What We Migrate

Every on-prem workload has a home in Azure.

From identity to infrastructure, we move the systems your business runs on into the cloud - properly.

Active Directory → Entra ID & Intune

Modernise identity - move from on-prem domain controllers to cloud-managed Entra ID and Intune, so devices and access are managed from anywhere, not just the office.

File Servers → Azure Files

Retire that ageing file server. We move your shares to Azure Files - secure, accessible from anywhere, automatically backed up, with no hardware to maintain.

Servers & VMs → Azure VMs

Lift-and-shift your physical, VMware, or Hyper-V servers into Azure virtual machines - same applications, no more hardware refresh cycles or server-room risk.

SQL Server → Azure SQL

Move your databases to fully managed Azure SQL - high availability, automated backups, and patching handled, without a server to babysit.

Remote Desktop → Azure Virtual Desktop

Replace on-prem RDS or Citrix with Azure Virtual Desktop - secure, scalable desktops your team reaches from anywhere, with nothing running in your building.

Backup & DR → Azure

Move backup and disaster recovery off tapes and local NAS to Azure Backup and Site Recovery - offsite, tested, and ready when you actually need it.

We also migrate:

Line-of-business applications

Print, DNS & DHCP services

Hyper-V & VMware hosts

Web & application servers

Legacy & end-of-life systems

What Every Migration Includes

A migration - you can actually trust.

No cowboy cutovers. Every project follows a disciplined method built to protect your data and your uptime.

Free Migration Assessment

We inventory your environment and map every dependency before anything moves - so there are no surprises mid-migration.

Target Architecture & Landing Zone

A secure, cost-efficient Azure foundation designed to best practice - built and tested before your workloads arrive.

Phased, Low-Downtime Execution

We migrate in waves and schedule cutovers out of hours - so your team keeps working throughout.

Testing & Validation

Everything is verified before and after cutover, often running in parallel - we don't switch off the old until the new is proven.

Decommission & Optimize

We safely retire the old hardware, right-size your Azure spend, and stay on to manage the new environment.

Our Proven Process

From server room to cloud, step by step.

A structured path that takes the risk - and the guesswork - out of moving to Azure.

Discover & Assess

We inventory your servers, apps, and dependencies, then assess what to move, what to modernise, and what to leave behind - with honest cost modelling.

Plan & Design

We build a secure Azure landing zone and a wave-by-wave migration plan, sequenced so dependencies move together and risk stays low.

Migrate in Waves

Workloads move in planned batches, tested as we go. Cutovers happen out of hours, often running old and new in parallel until we're certain.

Validate & Optimize

We confirm everything works, decommission the old hardware, right-size your spend, and stay on to manage and improve your new cloud.

Is This You?

Signs it's time to move to the cloud

Email problems creep up quietly until they cost you a deal or a night's sleep. If any of these ring true, it's time to move.

Ageing or failing hardware

Servers nearing end-of-life, and a refresh would mean a big capital outlay.

Out-of-support software

Running Windows Server or SQL Server versions that no longer get security updates.

Remote work is a struggle

Staff fight with VPNs and slow connections just to reach files and apps.

Backup & DR worries

Your only copies sit in the same building as the servers - one flood or fire away from disaster.

Common Starting Points

What we move you off

Whatever you're running today, we've migrated something like it before. These are the environments we move to Azure most often.

Windows Server

VMware

Hyper-V

On-Prem Active Directory

File Servers & NAS

On-Prem SQL

RDS & Citrix

Free assessment first

We map your environment and give you a clear, costed plan before you commit a thing.

We manage what we move

Once you're in Azure, we run it - so the migration is the start of the relationship, not the end.

Why TechSalty?

Migrations that don't keep you up at night.

Just like salt brings out the best in every dish - careful planning brings out the best in a migration.

Azure Certified

Microsoft-certified engineers who design and migrate to the Well-Architected Framework - not by trial and error.

Minimal Downtime

Phased waves, out-of-hours cutovers, and parallel running keep your business operating throughout the move.

No Data Loss

We validate everything and never switch off the old environment until the new one is fully proven.

Cost-Optimized Landing

We right-size from day one and apply reserved pricing - so your new cloud isn't an expensive surprise.

FAQs

Cloud Migration, answered

The questions businesses ask us most before moving from on-prem to Azure.

Far less than most people expect. We migrate in planned waves rather than one big switch, and wherever possible we run the old and new environments in parallel — only cutting over once the new system is proven. Cutovers themselves are scheduled out of hours or over a weekend. For most businesses the disruption is measured in minutes, not days, and often happens while everyone's asleep.

It depends on what your applications need. Many businesses can move fully to cloud identity — Entra ID with devices managed by Intune — and retire their domain controllers entirely. Others have older applications that still require traditional Active Directory, in which case we design a hybrid setup or use a managed equivalent in Azure. We assess your specific apps first and recommend the cleanest path, rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all answer.

No — protecting your data is the whole point of doing this properly. We take verified copies, migrate without touching your originals, and validate that everything arrived intact before cutover. The on-premises systems stay in place and untouched until the Azure environment is confirmed working, so there's always a fallback. Nothing gets switched off on a hope.

It's often the smartest option. Running unsupported Windows Server or SQL Server on-premises leaves you exposed with no security patches. Microsoft offers free Extended Security Updates for certain out-of-support versions when you run them in Azure — which can buy you safe breathing room while you modernise, rather than paying for them on-prem. We'll assess your versions and lay out the most cost-effective and secure route forward.

In most cases, no — that's much of the value. Once your workloads are running in Azure and validated, we safely decommission the old hardware so you stop paying to power, maintain, and eventually replace it. Occasionally a specific legacy system needs to stay local for a while, and if so we'll design a clean hybrid arrangement rather than leaving you with loose ends.

Often, but it's not automatic, and we won't pretend otherwise. The savings come from eliminating hardware refreshes, maintenance, power, and the risk of failure — plus only paying for what you use. Whether it nets out cheaper depends on your specific workloads, so we model your real costs honestly during the assessment. If staying on-prem genuinely makes more sense for part of your setup, we'll tell you.

It depends on how much you're moving and how complex it is. A single file server or a small set of servers can be done in a couple of weeks. A full environment — identity, servers, databases, and desktops — typically runs over several weeks, deliberately phased to keep risk and disruption low. After the assessment we'll give you a realistic timeline and a wave-by-wave plan, not an optimistic guess.
